My beautiful Elizabeth & James dress has ripped. This is only the third time I’ve worn it. It was perfect this morning and somehow, at some point today, the seam ripped down the side. Luckily the dress has two layers of material because I’m going to the opera this evening and I definitely don’t have time to go home and get changed. Fair enough all clothes will deteriorate after a bit of wear but this dress is practically new! I bought it a few months ago but haven’t had that many occasions to wear it. If I had been at a party, drunkenly running around, it could have been my fault, but I’m sitting at my desk at work where the furthest I move is a few metres to the printer.
I’m so upset! And it’s prompted me to ask, is designer really worth it? Sure they are beautiful, but if even the designers are producing poor quality clothing with bad stitching that is barely held together…should we even bother? I suppose if you’re rich enough to fork out that kind of money for all your clothes it’s not such a big deal, but as I don’t earn that much money, yes it is a big deal when my $800 dress rips!
